Father Howard A. Lavelle
Father Howard A. Lavelle is a reported sexual abuser who preyed on young boys at St. Louise Parish and churches elsewhere as assigned by the Archdiocese of Seattle. He is named in a new lawsuit accusing him of repeatedly raping a young parishioner and student at St. Louise parish for approximately two years.
Lavelle served from approximately 1960 to 1976. The Archdiocese of Seattle has failed to place him on its list of priests “credibly accused” of sexual abuse, despite widespread reports and knowledge he was a sexual predator. The Archdiocese is named in the aforementioned lawsuit for knowingly ignoring the threats Lavelle posed to young male students and parishioners. The Archdiocese compounded the damages by concealing its knowledge Lavelle was “credibly accused” despite receiving multiple warnings and reporters in the early 2000’s.
