Every day our food safety system is in greater peril as the new administration guts federal agencies, including the FDA, and food manufacturers and producers are given free rein to lower their safety standards.

We’ve been seeing a terrifying rise in food recalls and foodborne illnesses even with fully staffed government agencies.  This isn’t just an occasional instance of food going bad or even an accidental mistake.  It is often the result of cutting corners in the name of profits – pure greed.

We’re not talking about a little stomach discomfort, nausea or diarrhea. 
We’re talking far more serious illness, permanent physical damage, and even death.

If food manufacturers and producers are left to patrol themselves, we’ve seen far too often the result: they cut corners for profit, and we get sick or even die as a result. So it’s up to all of us to protect ourselves.  One way we can do that is to leverage the power of the law and knowledge.

I have dedicated my career to protecting consumers, and I am even more dedicated to keeping our families, friends and communities safe and making sure the food we eat doesn’t make us sick or kill us.
